For hikers, Ru Courtod is certainly one of the best places in Val d’Ayas. It is possible to enjoy splendid yet easy walks along the channel, following the ancient “Mountain Canal” route.

Whatever itinerary you have chosen, there are many alternatives of varying length and difficulty; as the Ru has many access points you can adapt your ride to the time available or your technical skill.

Some stretches of Ru Courtod have become interesting routes for horse riders after some of the water was diverted into pipes and a good unmetalled service road was built over the underground water pipes of the new channel.
